She had a great weekend!

Skitzo is doing better and better each day!
Yesterday she began drinking water out of her water bottle, a feat that I was told would take weeks because the sucking hurts her stomach muscles, so yeah for the monster!
She is healing nicely

Friday

Saturday

Sunday

I can see she is a bit boredbut I don't want to chance her overdoing it so she's still hasn't been able to go downstairs of her condo. Is this wrong? who knows but for now she is safe and comfortable!

Have a few bunny questions, so I'm trying to write them down for Thursday when her stitches come out....lets see how much is too much food? She eats, and eats and eats! oh yeah and what about shots? yea or nay? and I found a list of veggies online, but she only likes a few so eats more greens and fruit YIKES! so what other veggies can she eat? more to come!

Thank you for all you crazy rabbit lovers for reading my ill written blog about our crazy Skitzo!
Have a great week!

Post Op Day 2

We have settled in with our little girl!
She is doing so much better today
in fact, she is doing so much better then we could have ever imagined
She's bouncing around

Eating

Drinking
and is trying to use her potty.

We've blocked off the downstairs to her condo and I think she's getting bored!
Is this possible after going through this?

Everything I read says she should still be groggy and out of it.
We have a Super-Bunny!!

Bunny lovers - if you see something in this pictures that shouldn't be, please contact me! Thanks!

Surprises

It's been a rough couple of weeks with Skitz
Teenagehood was in full force.

Chewing everything and the worse was the spraying!

I knew that we needed a fix immediately.

So I made an appointment - the first.
Wednesday July 8th, 2009 @ 8:00 am we put Skitzo in the carrier
We took Skitzo to the Vet
We tried for 5 months to compare the Internet pictures
to what we had in front of us
and
we couldn't tell
we laughed it off and just called Skitzo a him
I told the vet office that I think he is a male....
At 1:00 we got a call
Skitzo is a GIRL!
So, who knew.
Baby Girl Bun was Spayed
She got home safe sound but very groggy
Baby girl was so out of it
Sleep was her friend
However she must have taken the surgery
very well
by an hour of being home she was drinking water
and by the end of night she was eating
not a lot
but enough not to worry about her digestive tract
She woke up this morning feel better
chewing her paper, veggies gone and
she must have found her potty - no wet spots
Now instead of a bratty boy, we have a princess spoiled girl!!
Her daddy is now again surrounded by nothing but girls!
First time bunny owner is learning day-by-day!
Oh by the way she is not a dwarf lop bunny, but a mini-lop bunny!
Laughing
Who knew??

Thumping

So Skits has been doing this lately

Thumping

He'll thump his hind feet in his cage when he wants attention

or

he's being ignored

His way to say "HEY"!

It's the funniest thing ever

Gotta love a spoiled child!

Spoiled

Little Skitzo aka Bun is the most spoiled bunny in the world!

His daddy has now built him a two story condo and has the run of the bed.

But wait, with all the space he has his favorite spot is my back!

If he is not on my back he is putting his nose under my hand to be petted.

It's very strange to have a different type of pet and learning his habits and traits!
This is a pix of Bun trying to get out of his cage when it was dinner time!

Calming

My Skitzo seems to be calming down

One day he'll be a quiet normal bunny

The next the crazy Skitzo!

My new problem is that

He bites!

But wait,

He doesn't bite his daddy, or the kids at school

he doesn't even bite the cats

or the ladies in the school office

It's ME!

He bites me!

What the heck?

It started a few months back

I was trying to clean his cage and

he was inside

he was angry that I wouldn't let him out

and CHOMP!

Nothing to major

a warning bite

but since then

he continues to bite me when I'm

in his way!

He's never hurt me but it's

frustrating and funny that I am the only one!

Hopefully he'll out grow such a bad habit!

Bell pepper and peas

As life in our household does go on after the loss of pet we focus on the other animals in our home.

Skitz's diet has increased and has now tried many shades of greens, veggies and fruit.

He LOVES strawberry and orange

He LOVES Greens (everything we've tried)

HE HATES BELL PEPPERS AND PEAS

So that means, his veggie diet isn't so hot....yet

Are you asking how we know he despise of those two veggies?

When we feed him it's at 8pm and in a glass bowl

He'll finish everything except the bell pepper - red, green no matter it's left in the plate

Today we tried peas and it's a NO....left at the bottom of the bowl, not touched

Can you say picky?

Dealing

Dealing with Chance's death is harder then I thought.

I knew it was coming

yet every time I pass his cage I want to reach out and put my hand on his nose

or

as I compute, put my hand on the bottom glass wall

where he would walk over and start his head bobbing

saying

Hi mom!

Who knew a Iguana could be such a cool pet!

We buried him in his home made casket and

a headstone so the dog won't dig him up.

My husband made both of them

and did a great job!

I know he's running around and swimming

in God's jungle now

and the thought of that makes me smile!

Chance

I'm sad to report that my Ig of 5 years was taken from us. Chance passed away moments ago on the floor of his cage.

He's health took a turn for the worse about two weeks ago and having experienced this once before with Valentine we knew what was to come.

I made him as comfortable as possible and fed him his favorite foods strawberry and banana!

He will be missed especially since he lived in our bedroom and was my little pain in the butt buddy!

Bye Chancey! April 16, 2009 7:45pm

Update

Wow the last month or so has flown by.

Our little Skitz is not little anymore!

He's now eating loads of Hay along with his pallets but this week started on a salad.

We started him off with carrots and then carrot stem, after that we tried some other fruits and veggies and he's taken to them all very well.

It did take a while for him to eat the raspberry, but after nibbling it for 1/2 hour, my husband Gabriel broke the tiny fruit in two and it was gobbled up!

I have more videos and pictures but will do that later this week, just wanted let you know that Skitzo is thriving and enjoying life!

Introduction to Chance

During the next few blogs I will also be introducing you to our other animals.

Chance is our five year old iguana.

We had Valentine, who passed right after we got Chance five years ago.

His named seems appropriate since we had gone to the pet shop for supplies and this boy comes walking by with Chance, then about 2-3 months, on his chest.

Since we already had Valentine, Gabriel showed interest in the little iggie.

The boy proceeded to tell us that he bought him and mom/dad won't let him keep him and the pet store won't take him back so "HERE YOU TAKE HIM"

He handed him off and walked away.

We both looked at each other and laughed.

We always seem to get ourselves into situations like this!

Chance because he got a second chance with us.

So, we took him home and loved him and trained him.

Until he bit me.

Now he's still a part of the family but no longer hand tamed.

That saddens me, but it's safer.....for both of us!

Chance has a great big cage to roam and gets a yummy salad of veggies daily and is a happy guy.

He goes outside when it's warm enough and absorbs the sun and loves his daddy.
They communicate with each other by nodding and bobbing their heads!

He has a personality that fits right in to our crazy home!

Carrots

Keeping up with Skitzo is almost a full time job.

I'm learning that rabbits need plenty of attention, toys and food.

Most important bunnies poop alot!

From what I've read, Skitz should be eating veggies already but we are to introduce one veggie at a time....did I tell you that I feel like I have a real baby?!

Last week he had his first taste of hay (Timothy Hay) and he loves it.

This week carrots. It's the funniest thing to watch him eat a strip of carrot (we shred the carrots for Chance's salad....Chance being our 4 year old iguana).

So first veggie down with success!

A new play yard

On the weekends when we're working Skitzo needs to stay locked in his small cage.

He looks out at the door, longing to come out.

So, his daddy is building him a hutch extension just for him to play in! Can you say SPOILED!

Our New Furbaby Skitzo

I'm amazed that with all the animals that we have had, we've never had a bunny.

So Skitzo is the first. My husband works with special needs "ED" aka Emotional Disturbed kids. He is always trying to think of new and interesting things to do with and for the kids. His bright idea this time was to have a class pet and why not a bunny, a dwarf lop bunny to be exact.

He built the cage for school and waited for the new bunny to arrive.

I have to admit that he (Skitzo) is adorable, but he is no longer just the class pet as he (my husband) didn't want him to be lonely at night so he brings in home every night and on the weekend!

I now have a new baby to tend to.Skitzo is somewhere between 4 and 6 months and is a ball of fire.

Why name him Skitzo?

The first few days we had him he didn't have a name, until we saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCMrOAvUl9g

He goes crazy and each day he gets more and more wild.

I'm often afraid that he is going to bounce off his cage and break something!

Watching him is a trip and so funny.

He a character.

So I look forward to sharing Skitzo with everyone and anyone that had or wished they had a bunny!
