Introduction to Chance

During the next few blogs I will also be introducing you to our other animals.

Chance is our five year old iguana.

We had Valentine, who passed right after we got Chance five years ago.

His named seems appropriate since we had gone to the pet shop for supplies and this boy comes walking by with Chance, then about 2-3 months, on his chest.

Since we already had Valentine, Gabriel showed interest in the little iggie.

The boy proceeded to tell us that he bought him and mom/dad won't let him keep him and the pet store won't take him back so "HERE YOU TAKE HIM"

He handed him off and walked away.

We both looked at each other and laughed.

We always seem to get ourselves into situations like this!

Chance because he got a second chance with us.

So, we took him home and loved him and trained him.

Until he bit me.

Now he's still a part of the family but no longer hand tamed.

That saddens me, but it's safer.....for both of us!

Chance has a great big cage to roam and gets a yummy salad of veggies daily and is a happy guy.

He goes outside when it's warm enough and absorbs the sun and loves his daddy.
They communicate with each other by nodding and bobbing their heads!

He has a personality that fits right in to our crazy home!

Carrots

Keeping up with Skitzo is almost a full time job.

I'm learning that rabbits need plenty of attention, toys and food.

Most important bunnies poop alot!

From what I've read, Skitz should be eating veggies already but we are to introduce one veggie at a time....did I tell you that I feel like I have a real baby?!

Last week he had his first taste of hay (Timothy Hay) and he loves it.

This week carrots. It's the funniest thing to watch him eat a strip of carrot (we shred the carrots for Chance's salad....Chance being our 4 year old iguana).

So first veggie down with success!

A new play yard

On the weekends when we're working Skitzo needs to stay locked in his small cage.

He looks out at the door, longing to come out.

So, his daddy is building him a hutch extension just for him to play in! Can you say SPOILED!

Our New Furbaby Skitzo

I'm amazed that with all the animals that we have had, we've never had a bunny.

So Skitzo is the first. My husband works with special needs "ED" aka Emotional Disturbed kids. He is always trying to think of new and interesting things to do with and for the kids. His bright idea this time was to have a class pet and why not a bunny, a dwarf lop bunny to be exact.

He built the cage for school and waited for the new bunny to arrive.

I have to admit that he (Skitzo) is adorable, but he is no longer just the class pet as he (my husband) didn't want him to be lonely at night so he brings in home every night and on the weekend!

I now have a new baby to tend to.Skitzo is somewhere between 4 and 6 months and is a ball of fire.

Why name him Skitzo?

The first few days we had him he didn't have a name, until we saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCMrOAvUl9g

He goes crazy and each day he gets more and more wild.

I'm often afraid that he is going to bounce off his cage and break something!

Watching him is a trip and so funny.

He a character.

So I look forward to sharing Skitzo with everyone and anyone that had or wished they had a bunny!
